Description

DOCUMENT NUMEE lJlOlL UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD T. SOHOONMAKER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE ROGERS t HAMILTON COMPANY, OF YVATERBURY, CONN.
DESIGNFOR A FORK OR SPOON HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,0434, dated December 28 1885- I Application filed November 26, 1886. Serial No. 220,006. Term of pntent14 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, EDWARD T. SCHOON- MAKER, a citizen of the United States, residL ing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, .have invented a certain new and original Design for Fork and Spoon Handles, of which the following is a specification.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and which shows a spoon whose handle is ornamented in accordance with my design.
The leading and most prominent features of my design aretheeentral stalk, A,which springs from the base B and extends upward along the handle, and the foliate acanthine figures O, a number' of which are shown as diverging from cach side of the central stalk. The leafshaped iigures are smaller and theirdivergence less toward the shank of the spoon, the shape of the whole figure being governed by the shape of the handle, whose upper face is substantially covered thereby. Above the figure formed by the leaves and stalk is a raised bead pattern, D, the individual members of which diminish in size from the top of the stalk along the shank toward the spoon-bowl.
stalk-like figure springing from a base at the extremity of the handle and extending toward' the shank, the aeanthine foliate figures springing from said stalk upon either side throughont its full length, and the raised beaded pattern extending from the top of thev stalk outward along the shank, substantially as set forth and illustrated. f
In testimony whereof I atx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD fr. soHooNMAKER.
