IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIE SUFPORTERS.

My invention relates to the devices which secure a scart' or imitation tie upon the neck, and consists of a vertical supporting strap, fastened at one end to the shirt-button, upon which the scarf is adjustably secured by a retaining-clasp attached to the tie, through which the strap passes.

The object of my invention is to retain a neck-tie, bow, or scarf at any desirable point on the tape, which iS made 0f any material, about five inches in length hy a half inch in width, that passes through the hollow part of the metallic device formed t0 tit the tape so as to slide up and down thereon.

A represents a common bow or scart' as a neck-tie.

B is the strap or tape, adjustable ou the inside of the loop or bow A.

This strap is rounding at top, with a bnttonhole, O, and wider at the lower ends, with shoulders D D to prevent the strap from sliding out of thc metallic device or clasp E, and broader, that the iugers can have an easy and iii-in hold on the strap when the clasp is required to be adjusted on the strap.

The metallic device or clasp E is formed of two plates, G G, with a hollow part, H, at one side, through which the tape passes.

Between the plates G G are side anges J J, working on central pivots KK, that allow the ends of the plates t0 be moved back and forth ou the pivots.

On the one end ofthe upper or outside plate G are two teeth, N, with sharp point-s at right angles with the plates G G. Y

A dat spring, L, in the inside, and attached permanently to one ofthe plates G, rests npon a cross-piece M, connecting the two teeth N N and two apertures P P in the lower plate G, through which the points ot" the teeth pass and enter the strap B, fastening the strap securely, while the spring holds the teeth down upon the tape or strap B, that is pierced by the points ofthe teeth.

A scarf with this attachment is easily adjusted to the neck of the wearer and securely held to its place. It is only necessary to pull ont the upper or buttonhol'e end ofthe strap B i'arcnough to be easilyslipped over the collar-button or stud, then with one hand release the teeth from the tape, while with the other hand is grasped the lower end thereof; the scarf may then be passed.up to the collar. Release then the spring, and the teeth will pass through the holes into the tape, holding it fast.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A scarf-supporter, consisting of the flexible attaching-strap B and a suitable retaining-clasp secured to the scarf, through which the strap passes, and in which it is adjustable to lixed positions, as described.
