A represents a spring wire, shaped to fit the curvature of the neck for a short distance-each way from the centre o f the front, having two retui'n bends B C, extending downward and backward, terminating a short distance each side of the position of shirt-stud D, in hoods E, forming seats for other abrupt bends of the said wire, from -whioh the two vends F spring up in Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding nearly semicircular curves toward the centre of the throat, and down to the stud D, where' they. are provided with curved recesses for embracing the neck of the stud behind the head.
From each of the hoods E, and connecting'them, another spring G rises, in a regular curve, above the parts F f the wire-A.
Thewhole device rests on thestud D., and provides an upward tension under the folds of the collar, ealculated to keep it in position and prevent it from doubling over.'
-v `It also presses the band of the collar around the' neck, and may bejmade equally serviceable in supand the outerends of F being connected to the spring parts C of the wire A, by means of the hoods E, all arranged as described, for the purpose specied;`
