The utility model relates to medicine, namely to devices for treating inflammatory diseases in the head, ears, nose and upper respiratory tract, which contain plant extracts as medicinal substances.

A device for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the ear and auditory tube using aerosol therapy (1).

The device comprises a housing with a generator connected to the nebulizer, a supply path, one branch of which is connected to the generator, and the other serves to deliver the drug substance. A tubular electric heater is located in the sprayer, and a branch of the supply pathway delivering the drug substance is equipped with a nozzle in the form of an ear olive.

The difference of this device is that the case is equipped with a microprocessor.

However, the design of this device is complex because it requires the use of high-precision electronic elements and is more applicable in stationary and outpatient conditions.

Equipping the device with modern technology also contributes to the cost of this medical device.

Wax candles are known to be used in folk medicine for the treatment of ear diseases (2), which are hollow tubes impregnated with beeswax. Candles are inserted into the external auditory meatus and set on fire from the opposite end. In the process of burning candles

smoke is formed that has a slight thermal effect on the ear.

However, known suppositories do not allow to achieve long periods of remission, and they are characterized by long periods of treatment.

The closest in technical essence and the achieved result to the proposed utility model is a device for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the ear and paranasal sinuses (3), called a phyto candle.

The device is made in the form of a cylindrical tube of cotton fabric, impregnated with a composition containing beeswax, essential oils, propolis tincture.

As essential oils use eucalyptus, mint, lavender, cinnamon.

The listed components of the impregnating composition have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and analgesic effects.

The use of a known device when exposed to these therapeutic substances allows you to treat inflammatory diseases of the ear and paranasal sinuses, however, it does not have the proper therapeutic effect on the upper respiratory tract and nervous system.

The purpose of this utility model is to expand the scope of the medical device and enhance the effect of its treatment.

This goal is achieved by the fact that in the device for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the ear, sinuses and upper respiratory tract made in the form of a cylindrical cotton tube soaked in a composition containing beeswax, drugs and essential oils with anti-inflammatory antispasmodic and analgesic effects, according to the invention as medicinal substances, it contains extracts of the herbs sid cordifolia, andrographolides, asvagandha, boswellik asid.

What is new in the proposed utility model is that it contains extracts of the herbs Cordifolia, Andrographolides, Aschwagandha, Boswellik Asid as medicinal substances.

Pieces of cotton fabric are made (210 X 550 mm), wax melts. Propolis tincture and essential oils in a ratio of 100: 1: 1 are added to it. After that, the tissue is impregnated with the treatment compound and curled up in the form of a tube. Next, at a distance of 7 JM from the bottom of the candle, a line is marked to which combustion should occur (see figure 1).

Treatment using the proposed device is as follows.

The patient is laid on his side, a tube is inserted into the external auditory canal of the ear, and soaked in a medicinal composition, and the opposite end of the tube is set on fire. The tube is held strictly vertical so that smoke does not leak from the external auditory canal.

A burning candle pumps the air flow from the bottom up, which creates a thrust up, as well as a slight decrease in pressure inside the ear.

Oscillation of the flame causes the column of warm air in the ear cavity to decrease or increase. Warm air with vapors of medicinal substances enters the ear cavity and affects the area of the ear of the head, throat, nose. At the same time, there is a thermal and therapeutic effect.

EXAMPLE 1. Patient K., 28 years old, went to the doctor for pain in the ear, an acute respiratory disease with severe coughing attacks at night. Sick for 4 days. It was treated with the use of a 3% alcohol solution of boric acid and antibiotics. The cough does not go away, insomnia at night. In the external auditory canal of the ear, the inflammatory process, the eardrum is hypermediated. In the nasal cavity, scanty mucous discharge, nasal breathing is difficult. After that, the treatment was carried out with phyto-candles at home in three sessions every other day. After the first session, the pain subsided. After the second, there was a strong expectoration of sputum, normalized sleep.

On the 4th day, the pain in the ear passed completely, nasal breathing was free, the otoscopic picture returned to normal. The mood got better.

EXAMPLE 2. Patient N, a boy of 3 years. Complaints: nasal congestion, heavy breathing, earaches, severe cough. She doesn’t sleep at night, cries, and decreased appetite. Sick for 3 days. Intolerance to antibiotics is noted. Treated with warm compresses in the ear area, boric alcohol, expectorant medicines.

After applying phyto-candles for 2 days, the child became calmer, day and night sleep improved, and expectoration began. On the 4th day of treatment, the cough at night passed. Free nasal breathing, earaches subsided. On the 5th day, the child’s health improved significantly.

EXAMPLE 3. Patient B. - 35 years old, complained of nasal congestion, headaches, pain in the sinus region. There is a decrease in smell, general weakness, insomnia, and a decrease in appetite. Treptomycin was treated on an outpatient basis. Locally applied electrophoresis with iodine, drops in the nose. Sick for 1 month. Objectively: pain on palpation in the projection of the right maxillary sinus, there is hypermia and swelling of the nasal mucosa, the level of fluid in the right maxillary sinus is determined, severe coughing at night, sleep disturbance, headache, stuffy ears, shortness of breath.

Diagnosis: acute sinusitis, inflammation of the middle ear.

Appointed treatment using ear phytocandles. A course of 2 sessions every other day. After the 2nd day of the procedure, relief of nasal breathing was noted. There was a mucopurulent discharge from the nose, a cough decreased, and sleep improved. After the 3rd day of treatment, a plentiful discharge from the nose appeared, the cough practically disappeared, sleep normalized.

After the 3rd day of treatment, the x-ray picture returned to normal. The proposed device is tested on 96 patients.

The advantage of the proposal is that the use of extracts of the above herbs along with ear diseases can have a therapeutic effect on the upper respiratory tract, have a tonic effect on the nervous system, which helps to reduce cough and improve sleep.

With colds, these herbs are faster and more effective on the human body.
