Claims (9)
- 액정층을 협지하는 한 쌍의 기판으로 이루어지는 IPS 모드로 구동되는 액정셀 및 백라이트를 갖는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치로서,상기 액정셀의 한쪽 셀 기판에는, 편광판의 흡수축과 위상차 필름의 지상축이 직교 또는 평행해지도록 적층한 광학필름 (F1) 으로서,상기 편광판은 편광자의 양면에 투명보호필름을 적층하여 이루어지고 상기 투명보호필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대로 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께 방향을 Z 축으로 하며, 각각의 축 방향의 550㎚ 에서의 굴절률을 nx, ny, nz, 필름의 두께를 d(㎚) 로 한 경우에,면내 위상차 Re = (nx-ny) ×d 가 10㎚ 이하이고,또한, 두께 방향 위상차 Rth = {(nx+ny)/2-nz} ×d 가 30∼100㎚ 이고,상기 위상차 필름은 해당 필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대로 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께 방향을 Z 축으로 하며, 각각의 축 방향의 550㎚ 에서의 굴절률을 nx1, ny1, nz1, 필름의 두께를 d1(㎚) 로 한 경우에,Nz = (nx1-nz1)/(nx1-ny1) 로 나타내는 Nz 값이 0.3∼0.7 을 만족하고,또한, 면내 위상차 Re1 = (nx1-ny1) ×d1 이 200∼300㎚ 인, 광학필름 (F1) 이 배치되어 있고,상기 액정셀의 다른 한쪽 셀 기판에는, 편광판의 흡수축과 위상차 필름의 지 상축이 평행해지도록 적층한 광학필름 (F2) 으로서,상기 편광판은 편광자의 양면에 투명보호필름을 적층하여 이루어지고, 그 투명보호필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대로 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께 방향을 Z 축으로 하며, 각각의 축 방향의 550㎚ 에서의 굴절률을 nx, ny, nz, 필름의 두께를 d(㎚) 로 한 경우에,면내 위상차 Re = (nx-ny) ×d 가 10㎚ 이하이고,또한, 두께 방향 위상차 Rth = {(nx+ny)/2-nz} ×d 가 30∼100㎚ 이고,상기 위상차 필름은, 해당 필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대로 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께 방향을 Z 축으로 하며, 각각의 축 방향의 550㎚ 에서의 굴절률을 nx2, ny2, nz2, 필름의 두께를 d2(㎚) 로 한 경우에,Nz = (nx2-nz2)/(nx2-ny2) 로 나타내는 Nz 값이 0.9∼1.2 를 만족하고,또한, 면내 위상차 Re2 = (nx2-ny2) ×d2 가 150∼280㎚ 인, 광학필름 (F2) 이 배치되어 있고,또한, 상기 광학필름 (F1) 과 상기 광학필름 (F2) 은 각각의 편광판의 흡수축이 직교 상태로 되어 모두 위상차 필름측이 액정셀측이 되도록 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 IPS 모드로 구동되는 액정셀은, 550㎚ 에서의 위상차값이 전압 무인가 시에 230∼400㎚ 인 IPS 모드의 액정셀인 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 광학필름 (F1) 은 시인측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있고,상기 광학필름 (F2) 은 백라이트로부터의 광입사측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있으며,전압 무인가시에 액정셀 내 액정물질의 이상 광굴절률 방향과 입사측의 상기 광학필름 (F2) 편광판의 흡수축이 평행 상태에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 광학필름 (F2) 은 시인측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있고,상기 광학필름 (F1) 은 백라이트로부터의 광입사측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있으며,전압 무인가시에 액정셀 내 액정물질의 이상 광굴절률 방향과 입사측의 상기 광학필름 (F1) 편광판의 흡수축이 직교 상태에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.

- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 IPS 모드로 구동되는 액정셀은, 550㎚ 에서의 위상차값이 전압 무인가시에 230∼400㎚ 인 IPS 모드의 액정셀인 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항 또는 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 IPS 모드로 구동되는 액정셀의 550㎚ 에서의 전압 무인가시 위상차값과, 광학필름 (F3) 에 사용하는 위상차 필름의 위상차값이 대략 같은 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항 또는 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 광학필름 (F1) 은 시인측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있고,상기 광학필름 (F3) 은 백라이트로부터의 광입사측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있으며,전압 무인가시에 액정셀 내 액정물질의 이상 광굴절률 방향과 입사측의 상기 광학필름 (F3) 편광판의 흡수축이 평행 상태에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항 또는 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 광학필름 (F3) 은 시인측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있고,상기 광학필름 (F1) 은 백라이트로부터의 광입사측의 셀 기판에 배치되어 있으며,전압 무인가시에 액정셀 내 액정물질의 이상 광굴절률 방향과 입사측의 상기 광학필름 (F1) 편광판의 흡수축이 직교 상태에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 IPS 모드 액정표시장치.
