Description
Claims (11)
- 대향하여 배치된 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판과,상기 제 1 기판과 상기 제 2 기판 사이에 유지된 220°∼ 270°로 비틀어져 배향된 액정층과,상기 액정층을 사이에 두고 마련된 제 1 위상차층 및 제 2 위상차층과,상기 양 위상차층의 상기 액정층과 반대쪽에 각각 배치된 제 1 편광판 및 제 2 편광판과,상기 제 2 기판의 상기 액정층 쪽에 형성되어, 상기 액정층으로 입사하는 광의 일부를 반사시키고 일부를 투과시키는 반사층을 구비한 반투과 반사형 액정 패널과,상기 액정 패널의 상기 제 2 편광판의 상기 액정층과 반대 쪽에 배치된 조명 장치를 구비하되,상기 액정 패널의 명(明)표시의 화소에 있어서, 상기 조명 장치로부터 발생되어 상기 액정층쪽으로부터 상기 제 1 편광판으로 입사하는 광이 타원 편광으로 되고, 상기 액정층의 광학 이방성 △n과, 액정층 두께 d와의 곱 △n·d가 820nm∼950nm로 되어 있고,상기 액정 패널에, 경사 방향으로부터 입사하는 광을, 상기 액정 패널의 정면 방향 쪽으로 출사시키는 지향성 반사 기능이 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 액정 패널의 명표시의 화소에 있어서, 상기 액정층 쪽으로부터 상기 제 1 편광판으로 입사하는 타원 편광의 타원율이, 25℃에 있어서 0보다 크고 0.5 이하로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 액정 패널에, 경사 반사층이 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 액정 패널에, 축이탈(off-axis) 이방성 광산란층이 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 액정 패널에, 당해 액정 패널의 전방으로부터 입사하는 광을 투과하고 또한 당해 액정 패널의 후방으로부터 입사하는 광을 회절시키는 이방성 광학층이 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 반사층은 액정 패널의 도트 영역내에 부분적으로 형성된 반사층으로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 반사층은 입사한 광 중 특정 편광 성분 또는 특정 파장 영역의 성분을 부분적으로 반사, 투과하는 층으로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 청구항 1 내지 3에 기재된 액정 표시 장치를 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 기기.
- 대향하여 배치된 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판과,상기 양 기판 사이에 유지된 220°~ 270°로 비틀려 배향된 액정층과,상기 액정층을 사이에 두고 마련된 제 1 위상차층 및 제 2 위상차층과,상기 제 1 위상차층의 상기 액정층과 반대쪽에 배치된 제 1 편광판과,상기 제 2 위상차층의 상기 액정층과 반대쪽에 배치된 제 2 편광판과,상기 제 2 기판의 상기 액정층쪽에 형성되고, 상기 액정층에 입사하는 광의 일부를 반사시키고, 일부를 투과시키는 반사층을 구비한 반투과 반사형 액정 패널과,상기 액정 패널의 상기 제 2 편광판의 상기 액정층과 반대쪽에 배치된 조명 장치를 구비하되,상기 액정 패널에, 당해 액정 패널의 외부로부터 경사 방향으로 입사하는 광을, 상기 액정 패널의 정면 방향 쪽으로 출사시키는 지향성 반사 기능을 마련하고,상기 액정 패널의 명표시 화소에 있어서,상기 조명 장치로부터 발생되어 상기 액정층 쪽으로부터 상기 제 1 편광판으로 입사하는 광이 타원 편광으로 되고,상기 액정 패널에 당해 액정 패널의 외부로부터 경사 방향으로 입사한 광이 직선 편광이고 상기 반사층에서 반사되며,상기 액정층의 광학 이방성 Δn과, 액정층 두께 d와의 곱 Δn·d는 820nm~950nm로 되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
