Claims (2)
- 액정 디스플레이 장치에 있어서, M개의 광학 보상층을 구비하며 제1 및 제2면을 갖는 제1광학 보상판으로, 상기 M은 2이상의 정수이며 상기 제1면의 측부로부터 광선이 입사되는 상기 제1광학 보상판; N개의 광학 보상층을 구비하며 제3 및 제4면을 갖는 제2광학 보상판으로, 상기 N은 2이상의 정수이며 상기 제4면으로부터 광선이 나오는 상기 제2광학 보상판; 및 상기 제1광학 보상판의 상기 제2면과 상기 제2광학 보상판의 상기 제3면 사이에 접촉되도록 제공된 액정 디스플레이 패널을 구비하며, 상기 액정 디스플레이 패널은(M+N)개의 액정층을 가지며, 상기 액정층은 상기 제1 및 제2광학 보상판의 극성과는 광학적으로 서로 다른 극성을 가지는 재료로 만들어지며, 전압의 인가시에 상기 제1광학 보상판의 제1면으로부터 j(j = 1, 2, ..., M)번째 광학 보상층의 광학축 방향은 상기 액정 디스플레이 패널의 상기 제1광학 보상판으로부터(M-j+1)번째 액정층의 광학축 방향과 실질적으로 평행하며, 전압의 인가시에 상기 제2광학 보상판의 제3면으로부터 i(i = 1, 2, ..., N)번째 광학 보상층의 광학축 방향은 상기 액정 디스플레이 패널의 상기 제1광학 보상판으로부터(M+N-i+1)번째 액정층의 광학축 방향과 실질적으로 평행하고, 전압 인가시에 상기 광학축의 방향은 상기 각각의 액정층에서 실질적으로 동일하고, 상기 제1광학 보상판의 상기 j 번째 광학 보상층의 복굴절율과 층두께곱의 절대치는 상기 액정 디스플레이 패널의 상기(M-j+1)번째 액정층의 복굴절율과 층두께 곱의 절대치와 실질적으로 동일하며, 상기 제2광학 보상판의 상기 i 번째 광학 보상층의 복굴절율과 층두께 곱의 절대치는 상기 액정 디스플레이 패널의 상기(M+N-i+1)번째 액정층의 복굴절율과 층두께 곱의 절대치와 실질적으로 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정층은 트위스트 네마틱 액정과 수퍼 트위스트 네마틱 액정 그룹으로부터 선택된 하나의 형태로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 장치.
