Description
Claims (15)
- 적어도 1장의 편광판, 2장의 기판사이에 액정을 끼운 구동용 액정셀, 상기 편광판과 상기 구동용 액정셀과의 사이에 배치되어, 상기 구동용 액정셀측의 제 1 주면과 상기 편광판측의 제 2 주면을 갖고, 복수의 광학이방성 단위가 상기 제 1 주면에서 상기 제 2 주면으로 연결되는 적어도 하나의 광학이방소자를 구비한 액정표시소자에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자는 상기 광학이방성 단위의 광학이방성이 부호(負號)이고, 동시에 각각의 광축과 상기 제 1 주면과 이루는 각도가 상기 제 1 주면측에서 상기 제 2 주면측을 향하여 서서히 커지도록 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 각도는 연속적 또는 단계적으로 변화하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 제 1 주면 근방의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 1 주면과 거의 평행하고, 상기 제 2 주면 근방의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 제 1 주면의 법선을 거의 따르는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 1 주면의 법선방향에서 보았을 때에 단일 축상에 가지런히 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 1 주면의 법선방향에서 보았을 때에 비틀어져 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 편광판과 상기 구동용 액정셀과의 사이에 2축성의 리터데이션 필름이 배치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위는 고분자액정으로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방성소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 1 주면 근방에 있어서, 상기 제 1 주면과 이루는 상기 각도가 0~80°의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제8항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 1 주면 근방에 있어서, 상기 제 1 주면과 이루는 상기 각도가 0°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 2 주면 근방에 있어서, 상기 제 1 주면과 이루는 상기 각도가 10~90°의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제10항에 있어서, 상기 광학이방소자의 상기 광학이방성 단위의 상기 광축은 상기 제 2 주면 근방에 있어서, 상기 제 1 주면과 이루는 상기 각도가 90°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제7항에 있어서, 상기 고분자액정은 디스코틱 액정으로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 구동용 액정셀의 상기 액정은 상기 기판사이에서 비틀어져 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 구동용 액정셀의 상기 액정은 TN액정인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 구동용 액정셀의 상기 액정은 상기 기판사이에서 하이브리드 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
