Description
本願は、国際出願PCT/US2009/045708(2009年5月29日出願、Moore、他)を基礎とする優先権の利益を主張する。該国際出願は、米国仮出願第61/057,667号(2008年5月30日出願、Moore、他、名称「PLASMA−BASED CHEMICAL SOURCE DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF」)を基礎とする優先権の利益を主張する。両出願の全内容は、参照により本明細書に引用される。
本開示は、表面加工および材料の除去または堆積のためのプラズマデバイスおよびプロセスに関する。特に、本開示は、選択された含有物に特有の励起状態種(例えば、励起光子)とともに、プラズマデバイス内の化学反応性、プラズマ生成された化学種を生成および方向づけるための装置および方法に関する。
本発明は、例えば、以下を提供する。
(項目1)
歯を白くする方法であって、
歯の一部を少なくとも部分的に浸漬するために十分な液体を供給することと、
プラズマデバイスを上記歯の浸漬された部分に隣接して位置付けることと、
イオン性媒体を上記プラズマデバイスに供給することと、
上記プラズマデバイスにおいて、上記液体の存在下、遠位部分においてプラズマ流を形成するために十分な上記イオン性媒体に点火することと
を含み、
それによって、上記プラズマ流は、上記液体と反応し、上記歯の上に配置された異物と選択的に相互作用する少なくとも1つの反応種を形成する、方法。
(項目2)
少なくとも1つの前駆体原料を含む液体を選択することをさらに含み、上記前駆体原料は、上記歯のエナメル質との化学反応性より高い上記異物との化学反応性を有する、項目1に記載の方法。
(項目3)
上記液体は、脱イオン水である、項目2に記載の方法。
(項目4)
上記少なくとも1つの反応種は、水酸化物および水素ラジカルから成る群から選択される、項目3に記載の方法。
(項目5)
上記プラズマデバイスは、金属合金から形成されている電極と上記電極を被覆する誘電層とを含み、上記誘電層は、所定の距離だけ、上記電極の遠位端を越えて遠位に延在する遠位部分を含む、項目1に記載の方法。
(項目6)
所望の浸漬距離まで、上記遠位部分を上記液体中に浸漬させることをさらに含む、項目5に記載の方法。
(項目7)
上記浸漬距離を調節することにより、上記プラズマ流の温度を調整することをさらに含む、項目6に記載の方法。
(項目8)
上記誘電層は、上記電極を覆って摺動可能に配置されている、項目5に記載の方法。
(項目9)
上記誘電層を摺動させることにより、暴露距離を調節することをさらに含む、項目8に記載の方法。
(項目10)
歯を白くする方法であって、
歯の一部を少なくとも部分的に浸漬するために十分な液体を供給することと、
プラズマデバイスを上記歯の浸漬された部分に隣接して位置付けることと、
イオン性媒体および少なくとも1つの前駆体原料を上記プラズマデバイスに供給することと、
上記プラズマデバイスにおいて、上記液体の存在下、遠位部分において選択的に反応するプラズマ流を形成するために十分な上記イオン性媒体および上記少なくとも1つの前駆体原料に点火することと
を含み、
それによって、上記プラズマ流は、上記液体と反応し、上記歯の上に配置された異物と選択的に相互作用する少なくとも1つの反応種を形成する、方法。
(項目11)
上記少なくとも1つの前駆体原料を選択することをさらに含み、上記前駆体原料は、上記歯のエナメル質との化学反応性より高い上記異物との化学反応性を有する、項目10に記載の方法。
(項目12)
疎水性化合物および上記イオン性媒体を上記プラズマデバイスに供給することと、

上記プラズマデバイスにおいて、脱イオン水の存在下、遠位部分においてプラズマ流を形成するために十分な上記イオン性媒体および上記少なくとも1つの前駆体原料に点火することと
を含み、
それによって、上記プラズマ流は、上記脱イオン水と反応し、上記歯の上に配置された異物と選択的に相互作用する水酸化物および水素ラジカルのうちの少なくとも1つを形成する、方法。
(項目17)
上記プラズマデバイスは、金属合金から形成されている電極と上記電極を被覆する誘電層とを含み、上記誘電層は、所定の距離だけ、上記電極の遠位端を越えて遠位に延在する遠位部分を含む、項目16に記載の方法。
(項目18)

上記歯の上に上記疎水性化合物を堆積させ、その上に疎水性コーティングを形成するために、上記プラズマデバイスにおいて、上記プラズマ流を形成するために十分な上記イオン性媒体および上記疎水性化合物に点火することと
をさらに含む、項目16に記載の方法。
式(1)では、γは、二次電子放出収率または係数であり、Γsecondaryは、電子束であり、Γionは、イオン束である。二次放出は、イオン衝撃衝突が、二次電子放出を誘発するために十分なエネルギーを有する場合、層24上へのプラズマ種(イオン)の衝撃のために生じ、それによって、γモード放電を発生させる。概して、放電は、気体(αモード放電)よりは、電子発生が電極表面(すなわち、γ>1)において優先的に生じる場合のγモードであると言われる。言い換えると、層24と衝突するイオン毎に、所定の数の二次電子が放出される。それによって、γはまた、Γsecondary(例えば、電子束)およびΓion(例えば、イオン束)の比率として考えられ得る。
式(2)において、Nは、散乱中心の数であり、これは、イオン性媒体、前駆体、および大気気体の分子であり得る。それによって、Nは、媒体密度を規定する。変数σは、散乱中心の平均粒子断面である。高エネルギー電子の厚さは、Nおよびσの積に反比例する。したがって、Nおよびσを減少させることによって、より多くの高エネルギー電子を発生可能となる。より低いσが、水素およびヘリウム等の低断面を有する分子を持つ特定のイオン性媒体化合物を使用して、提供され得る。変数Nは、気体密度を低減するために、イオン性媒体を加熱し、プラズマ反応を維持するために必要な最低量に、提供される媒体量を限定することによって、小さくされ得る。
式(3)によって描写される反応は、プラズマ/液体界面35において生じ、プラズマ流31により、水分子に供給されるエネルギーによる、水酸化物(OH−)および水素(H+)ラジカルの形成によって特徴付けられる。加えて、他のラジカルもまた、酸化物および水素化物等、プラズマ/液体界面35において形成され得る。発生したラジカルは、歯上の異物の蓄積に衝突し、それによって、歯を白くする。より具体的には、ラジカルおよび他のプラズマ発生種は、蓄積物の結合を成分化合物に分解し、これは、次いで、液体媒体34中で溶解される。
図8Aおよび8Bは、液体環境において、骨組織に対する骨組織に供給される前述のプラズマ流の効果を例証する。各実施例では、骨組織が、脱イオン水中に浸漬され、NaClが、水に添加され、局所化された損傷を形成するための化学前駆体として、塩化物イオン(例えば、NaClから)が提供された。電極が、液体中に浸漬され、プラズマ発生が点火され、2分間、維持された。図8Aにおける損傷は、2mm超の浸漬距離「d」まで浸漬された遠位部分を有する電極を使用して形成されたが、図7Bは、2mm未満の浸漬距離「d」まで浸漬された遠位部分を有する電極によって形成された効果を示す。より小さい「d」を使用する効果は、プラズマ流において発生したより高温の温度による、黒焦および他の組織除去を示す、図7Bに例証されるようにより顕著である。浅い深度において、デバイスによって生成されるプラズマ流は、黒焦が少ないが、依然として、骨組織を除去する。黒焦の欠如は、プラズマ流の熱およびその止血効果を低下させる浅い浸漬深度によるものである。
図10は、歯の増白に及ぼす前述のプラズマの効果を例証する。図10は、治療前および治療プロセスにおける種々の時点、すなわち、1、2、3、4、および8分時において撮影された歯の6つの写真を示す。歯は、脱イオン水中に浸漬され、電極が、歯(例えば、液体中に浸漬された)歯に近接された。アルゴンガスが、プラズマデバイスに供給され、プラズマ発生が点火され、8分間、維持された。写真は、治療プロセスの漸次的進行および歯からのステインの完全除去を例証する。
チタン酸化物(TiO2)触媒が、脱イオン水中に添加され、プラズマが、水媒体内で発生された。TiO2触媒の効果は、ヒドロキシル(OH)および水素(H)ラジカル、すなわち、HベータおよびHアルファラジカルのスペクトルによって測定された。ヒドロキシルの測定強度の比較を示す、図13−15に例証されるように、HベータおよびHアルファラジカルは、脱イオン水およびTiO2のナノ粒子を有する脱イオン水内で発生された。強度の増加は、触媒の添加に起因する、ラジカルのより高い濃度を示す。
Claims (20)
- 歯を白くするシステムであって、
歯の一部を少なくとも部分的に浸漬するために十分な液体を供給するための液体源と、
プラズマデバイスであって、前記プラズマデバイスは、前記歯の浸漬された部分に隣接して位置付けられるように構成されている、プラズマデバイスと、
イオン性媒体を前記プラズマデバイスに供給するためのイオン性媒体源と
を含み、
前記プラズマデバイスにおいて、前記液体の存在下、遠位部分においてプラズマ流を形成するために十分な前記イオン性媒体が点火され、それによって、前記プラズマ流は、前記液体と反応し、前記歯の上に配置された異物と選択的に相互作用する少なくとも1つの反応種を形成すること
を特徴とする、システム。 - 前記液体は、少なくとも1つの前駆体原料を含み、前記前駆体原料は、前記歯のエナメル質との化学反応性より高い前記異物との化学反応性を有する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記液体は、脱イオン水である、請求項2に記載のシステム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの反応種は、水酸化物および水素ラジカルから成る群から選択される、請求項3に記載のシステム。
- 前記プラズマデバイスは、金属合金から形成されている電極と前記電極を被覆する誘電層とを含み、前記誘電層は、所定の距離だけ、前記電極の遠位端を越えて遠位に延在する遠位部分を含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 所望の浸漬距離まで、前記遠位部分が前記液体中に浸漬されること
を特徴とする、請求項5に記載のシステム。 - 前記浸漬距離が調節されることにより、前記プラズマ流の温度を調整すること
を特徴とする、請求項6に記載のシステム。 - 前記誘電層は、前記電極を覆って摺動可能に配置されている、請求項5に記載のシステム。
- 前記誘電層が、暴露距離を調節するために摺動されること
を特徴とする、請求項8に記載のシステム。 - 歯を白くするシステムであって、
歯の一部を少なくとも部分的に浸漬するために十分な液体を供給するための液体源と、
プラズマデバイスであって、前記プラズマデバイスは、前記歯の浸漬された部分に隣接して位置付けられるように構成されている、プラズマデバイスと、
イオン性媒体を前記プラズマデバイスに供給するためのイオン性媒体源、および、少なくとも1つの前駆体原料を前記プラズマデバイスに供給するための前駆体源と
を含み、
前記プラズマデバイスにおいて、前記液体の存在下、遠位部分において選択的に反応するプラズマ流を形成するために十分な前記イオン性媒体および前記少なくとも1つの前駆体原料が点火され、それによって、前記プラズマ流は、前記液体と反応し、前記歯の上に配置された異物と選択的に相互作用する少なくとも1つの反応種を形成すること
