Description
このカラー液晶表示パネル20は、シール枠21の一側面まで引出され、さらに赤(R)、緑(G)及び青(B)の各色ごとに異なる長さL1〜L3(L1>L2>L3)引出されたデータライン22と、同様にシール材21の他側面からも異なる長さL4、L5(L4>L5)の走査ライン23が引出されて、これらの引出し線にICチップを実装する実装用端子22a、23aが設けられるともに、その延長端が検査用データライン(以下、検査ラインという)22R、22G、22Bとなって、これらの検査ラインにコネクタを接触させることにより中間検査、すなわち画素の点灯検査を行なうようになっている。
先ず、他方の第2コネクタ(図示省略)をAポジションに配置する。このポジションにコネクタを配置すると、このコネクタが全ての検査ライン22に接触して、全ての画素が点灯される。このとき点灯しない画素があれば、いずれかのデータラインが断線していることを検知できる。次に、第2コネクタをBポジションへ移動させると、このコネクタは検査ライン22B、22Gに接触し、青及び緑の画素が点灯される。このとき、赤の画素が点灯すると各検査ライン22B、22Rに接続されたデータライン間、或いは各検査ライン22G、22Rに接続されたデータラインが短絡していることになる。さらに、第2コネクタをBポジションからCポジションへ移動させると、このコネクタは検査ライン22Bのみに接触し、青の画素のみが点灯し、緑の画素および赤の画素が点灯しない。このとき、緑あるいは赤の画素が点灯すると、各検査ライン22B、22Gに接続されたデータライン間に短絡が生じていることになる。
先ず、不図示のコネクタをAポジションに配置する。このポジションにコネクタが位置すると、コネクタが全ての検査ラインLR、LG、LB、LCに接触して、全ての画素が点灯される。このとき点灯しない画素があれば、いずれかのデータラインが断線していることになるので、この全灯検査でデータラインの断線の有無を検知できる。次に、コネクタをBポジションへ移動させると、コネクタは赤(R)検査ラインLR、青(B)検査ラインLB及びシアン(C)検査ラインLCに接触して、赤、青及びシアンの画素が点灯される。このとき、緑の画素が点灯すると、緑のデータラインは、赤又は/及び青画素のデータラインと短絡していることになる。さらに、コネクタをBポジションからCポジションへ移動させると、コネクタはシアン(C)検査ラインLCのみに接触し、シアン画素のみが点灯し、その他の画素が点灯しない。このとき、他の画素、すなわち赤または青画素が点灯すると、赤または青画素のデータラインとシアン画素のデータラインとが短絡していることになる。
それぞれの検査ラインLR、LG、LB、LCの先端部に検査端子TR、TG、TB、TCを設けると、これらの検査端子に接触する端子を有する検査プローブ15を使用することができる。この検査プローブは、各検査端子と同じ間隔に設けた端子tR、tG、tB、tCを有する帯状の導電体で形成されている。この検査法は、先ず、全ての検査ラインLR、LG、LB、LCにコネクタを接触させることで各データラインの断線を検査し、次いで、検査プローブ15を赤(R)及び青(B)検査ラインLR、LB、LR、LBに接触させる。このとき緑或いはシアン画素が点灯すると、緑又はシアンのデータラインと赤又は青のデータラインとが短絡していることになる。なお、検査プローブ15を緑(G)及びシアン(C)検査ラインLG、LC、LG、LCに接触して点灯検査を行なうこともできる。このとき赤或いは青画素が点灯すると、同じく短絡が生じていることになる。なお、この検査は、先の検査で結果が判明しているので省くことができるが、両方の検査を行うことでより正確な検査結果とすることができる。

Claims (2)
- マトリクス状に配置されたデータライン及び走査ラインを有する第1基板と、1画素が4つのサブ画素からなる4色カラーフィルタを有する第2基板と、前記第1、第2基板を枠状のシール材を介して接合し、前記第1、第2基板と前記シール材とで囲まれた空間内に液晶を封入するとともに前記データラインを前記シール材の外側に引き出して所定長さの検査用データラインとして配列したカラー液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記4色カラーフィルタに対応するそれぞれの前記検査用データラインは、1色の前記検査用データラインを挟んだ他の2色の前記検査用データラインの長さを同じにし、該同じ長さの2色の検査用データラインのペアが少なくとも1ペア配列されており、
前記検査用データラインのペアは、最も長い検査用データラインと最も短い検査用データラインとの間に位置している検査用データライン同士で形成されていることを特徴とするカラー液晶表示パネル。 - 前記検査用データラインには液晶を駆動する半導体素子を実装する実装用端子が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のカラー液晶表示パネル。
