Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1における面状光源装置を示す平面図、図2は、図1中II−IIで示す部分の断面を示す水平断面図、図3は、図1中III−IIIで示す部分の断面を示す垂直断面図である。なお、図中、同一、相当部分には同一符号を付している。
また、金属筐体内の開口部(発光面)21には、光源ユニット3から出射された光および反射板6から反射された光を均一化する拡散板4が配置される。この拡散板4は、光散乱物質が混入されたアクリルやポリカーボネート等の樹脂板や表面を凹凸面化した樹脂板等からなる。さらに、拡散板4の上部には、光を所望の方向に出射するためのプリズムシートや拡散シート等の光学シート5を1枚から複数枚配置することができる。なお、この光学シート5は必ずしも配置しなくてもよい。
ここで、導光棒1から徐々に光が出射するため、各地点の伝播光強度はI1>I2>I3の関係が成り立つ。よって、各地点の光出射率がt1=t2=t3であれば、導光棒1からの出射光強度も点状光源2側の端面1a近傍で強く、端面1aから遠ざかるにつれ弱くなるように分布してしまう(O1>O2>O3)。しかし、本実施の形態においては光出射率がt1<t2<t3となるように出射面1cの粗度を調整しているため、各光源ユニット3から輝度ムラの少ない出射光を得ることができる。
図9は、本発明の実施の形態2における面状光源装置を示す平面図である。本実施の形態2における面状光源装置20は、図9に示すように、導光棒1の両側の端面1a、1bに点状光源2を配置し構成される複数の光源ユニット3を、垂直方向(図9中、矢印で示す方向)、すなわち開口部(発光面21)の略長方形の短辺と平行に配置したものである。なお、図中、実施の形態1と同一、相当部分には同一符号を付し説明を省略する。
図11(a)は本発明の実施の形態3における面状光源装置20を示す平面図、図11(b)は、図11(a)中II−IIで示す部分の断面を示す水平断面図である。なお、図中、実施の形態1および2と同一、相当部分には同一符号を付し説明を省略する。
本実施の形態4では、本発明による面状光源装置20に用いられる光源ユニット3を構成する様々な導光棒1の例について図13、図14および図15を用いて説明する。図13(a)〜(f)、図14(a)〜(c)および図15(a)〜(d)は、本発明の実施の形態4における面状光源装置20に用いられる導光棒1または光源ユニット3を示す斜視図または断面図である。なお、図中、実施の形態1〜3と同一、相当部分には同一符号を付し説明を省略する。また、図13、図14および図15中、上方は発光面21側、下方は反射板6側とする。

Claims (7)
- 上面に発光面となる開口部を有する筐体と、前記筐体内に互いに間隔をおいて配置された複数の円柱形状からなる導光棒およびこの導光棒の二つの端面の少なくとも一方に対向して配置されこの端面に向けて光を出射する点状光源から構成される光源ユニットと、前記筐体内の前記光源ユニットより下方に配置され前記光源ユニットから出射された光を前記開口部側へ反射する反射板とを備えた面状光源装置であって、
前記光源ユニットを構成する前記導光棒の円柱面の少なくとも前記発光面と対向する出射面に、前記点状光源からの前記導光棒の長手方向の距離に応じて光出射率を変化させる光出射手段を設けたことを特徴とする面状光源装置。 - 請求項1記載の面状光源装置であって、前記光出射手段として、前記導光棒の前記点状
光源と対向して配置した端面を除く面を、前記点状光源からの前記導光棒の長手方向の距
離に応じて粗度の変化する凹凸面としたことを特徴とする面状光源装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載の面状光源装置であって、前記光源ユニットを構成する前記点状光源は、前記導光棒の二つの端面の一方に対向して配置され、前記複数の導光棒は、前記点状光源と対向する前記端面の位置が交互になるように前記筐体内に配置されていることを特徴とする面状光源装置。
- 請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の面状光源装置であって、前記光源ユニット
を構成する前記点状光源は、前記導光棒の端面に空間を介して対向するよう配置されていることを特徴とする面状光源装置。 - 請求項1〜請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の面状光源装置であって、前記光源ユニット
を構成する前記点状光源として、発光色の異なる複数種類の発光ダイオードを用い、それ
らの発光ダイオードを1本の前記導光棒の前記端面に対向して配置したことを特徴とする
面状光源装置。 - 請求項1〜請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の面状光源装置であって、前記筐体の前記開
口部は略長方形であり、前記導光棒は、前記開口部の短辺と平行に配置されたことを特徴
とする面状光源装置。 - 請求項1〜請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の面状光源装置の前記発光面上部に、前記面
状光源装置から出射された光を変調して情報を表示する表示手段を配置したことを特徴と
する表示装置。
