Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 技術分野 本発明は、使い捨て排泄物収納または補集ガーメント
（waste-containment or collection garments）、およ
びパッドなど、特に使い捨ておむつ、広くは成人失禁製
品と称される成人用使い捨て外部失禁保護ガーメント、
例えばブリーフ、このようなおむつおよびブリーフ用の
ライナー、および外部生理パッドに関する。更に詳細に
は、本発明は、繊維間結合を実質上欠いた繊維塊からな
る吸収性芯（例えば、空気抄造芯およびエアフエルト芯
など）を具備し、かつ積層され、そして特定の薄層（la
minae）が特定のパターン、量および種類の接着剤で一
緒に接着固着されて、より迅速な吸収；より少ない芯ス
ランピング（slumping）、亀裂およびローピング（ropi
ng）；およびこのようなガーメントの柔軟性または全体
の吸収性のいずれかを実質上減少せずに増大された引張
強さを達成するガーメントに関する。本発明は、例えば
弾性化脚カフス（cuffs）および／または弾性化腰バン
ド領域を有する弾性化積層使い捨ておむつにおいて特に
有効である（その理由は、このような構造物の非結合薄
層が非弾性化使い捨ておむつにおいてよりも、それらの
それぞれの吸収性芯からブラウジングする（blouse）
（ブラウジングとは薄層からの芯の分離を意味する）傾

てよりも大きい程度で直接それらの吸収性芯への有効な
尿吸収を実質上損うからである）。
背景技術 米国特許第4,147,580号明細書は、基体への多孔質繊
維状ウエブの結合法、例えばホットメルト接着剤を制御
された厚さの接触型接着剤源から拭き取らせることによ
って、ホットメルト接着剤小滴をおむつのトップシート
の裏面に塗布することからなる使い捨ておむつの部分積
層法を開示している。米国特許第3,978,257号明細書
は、内部的に接着結合された繊維状ウエブを開示してい
る。即ち、使い捨ておむつの吸収性芯に好適である複数
の繊維状ウエブ、例えば空気抄造繊維状ウエブは、接着
剤が芯の内部であるスクリム（scrim）を形成しかつ芯
の外方に面する表面を接着剤を実質上含まないままにす
るように対向関係で一緒に接合される。これらの背景の
特許は、積層使い捨て排泄物収納ガーメントなどの芯／
おむつ一体性に関連する問題点の若干を解決している
が、本発明ほどには問題点を解決しておらず、特に前記
ブラウジング現象に関する問題点（本発明をそれによっ
て限定しようとはしないが）を解決していない。
発明の開示 本発明は、吸収性芯、液体透過性薄層、および液体不
透過性バックシートを具備し、前記吸収性芯は実質上繊
維間結合を欠いた繊維塊からなり、前記吸収性芯は前記
薄層と前記バックシートとの間に配置され、そしてホッ
トメルト接着剤のフィラメントの網状網目で前記薄層と
の対向関係において接着固着されることを特徴とする使
い捨て排泄物収納ガーメントに関するものである。尚、
本発明に含まれないものについても参考のために以下に
説明される。
本発明は一面によれば、比較的非結合繊維の吸収性
芯、液体透過性湿潤強度薄層、および液体不透過性バッ
クシートを具備する使い捨て排泄物収納ガーメントが、
提供される。吸収性芯は、薄層とバックシートとの間に
配置され、そして薄層は、約0.8〜約4.7g/m2の平均重量
を有する接着剤の開放パターン（open pattern）によっ
て芯との対向関係（face to face relation）において
固着される。開放パターンというのは接着剤の区域の間
にオープンエリア（OPEN AREA）があることを示すもの
である。また「追加の開放パターン」とは、追加薄層、
即ちトップ湿潤強度のティシューとトップシートが存在
する例に関するもので、これらが接着剤の追加の開放パ
ターンで接着されることを意味する。本発明のもう１つ
の特定の面においては、液体透過性薄層は、ガーメント
のトップシート（即ち、使用者の皮膚と接触させようと
するエレメント）であり、そして本発明の別の面におい
ては、液体透過性薄層は、ガーメントのトップシートと
吸収性芯との間に配置される。この面においては、液体
透過性薄層は、例えば湿潤強度ティシュペーパーである
ことができる。本発明の他の面においては、接着剤の開
放パターンは、接着剤の小滴の微細パターンまたは接着
剤のフイラメントの網状網目からなることができ、そし
て小滴およびフイラメントは、好ましくは吸収性芯を構

し；接着剤はホットメルト接着剤であり；そして／また
は接着剤は感圧性であり；そして接着剤の量は、より少
ない特定の範囲または好ましい値に限定され得る。本発
明の追加の面は、吸収性芯とバックシートとの間に配置
された追加の薄層を更に具備でき；吸収性芯は、超吸収
剤と一般に称されかつ後述される高吸収性物を更に含有
でき；薄層は関連されて、吸収性芯を収納しかつ芯成分
がガーメントから篩分けられる（sifting）のを回避す
るエンベロープを形成でき；そして接着剤の他の開放パ
ターン、好ましくは液体透過性薄層と吸収性芯との間の
接着剤の開放パターンを構成するものと同一の種類およ
び量の接着剤の開放パターンが、他の隣接エレメント間
でガーメントに配合され得る。
発明の具体的説明 本発明の例示の具体例である第１図の使い捨ておむつ
20は、液体透過性トップシート21、トップ湿潤強度ティ
シュ22、吸収性芯23、バック湿潤強度ティシュ26、液体
不透過性バックシート27、おむつの脚カフス部分を弾性
化する弾性ストランド31〜34、おむつの腰バンド領域を
弾性化する弾性バンド36および37、およびテープファス
ナー41および42を具備すると示される（トップシート21
の左側が線43に沿って引き裂かれているので、ファスナ
ー41の一部分のみが示されている）。更に明瞭にするた
めに、縁45によって規定される穴は、トップシート21に
おいて引き裂かれてトップシート21をトップ湿潤強度テ
ィシュ22の下設（underlying）部分に固着する複数の縦
方向延出ホットメルト接着剤ビーズ46を現わし；縁48に
よって規定される穴は、トップ湿潤強度ティシュ22にお
いて引き裂かれて吸収性芯23の下設部分および好ましく
は感圧接着剤であるホットメルト接着剤のフイラメント
の網目49を現わし；縁51によって規定される穴は、吸収
性芯23を通して引き裂かれてバック湿潤強度ティシュ26
の下設部分および好ましくはまた感圧性であるホットメ
ルト接着剤のフイラメントの網目52を現わし；テープフ
ァスナー42のコーナー54は、裏返されてファスナー組立
体の下設剥離テープ55の一部分を現わし；トップ湿潤強
度ティシュ22の一部分は、線58に沿って引き裂かれて吸
収性芯23の下設部分、吸収性芯23の切欠側縁59、および
バック湿潤強度ティシュ26の下設部分、バックシート2
7、およびバックシート27をバック湿潤強度ティシュ26

さない。事実、接着剤フイラメントが繊維の直径と桁が
大体等しい直径を有すること；および網目の交錯または
接合点が芯23の繊維の平均長よりも事実上近く離間され
ていることが、好ましい。
基本的に、接着剤49の開放パターンを構成する少量の
接着剤は、吸収性または柔軟性に過度に悪影響を及ぼさ
ずに一般にガーメント一体性を改善し、特に芯一体性を
増大する。更に詳細には、本発明の具体例は、芯亀裂、
スランピングおよびローピングに対して改善された抵抗
を有し；そして限定されたデータは、前記ブラウジング
の減少が後述のように要求湿潤性（demand wetabilit
y）を改善することを示す。勿論、更なる改善は、前記
の追加エレメントおよび接着剤の開放パターンを具備す
る本発明の具体例において実現される。
再度第１図を参照すると、この構造の例示の使い捨て
おむつは、以下のものからなる。トップシートは、坪量
約15〜約30g/m2を有する不織疎水性ポリプロピレンであ
る。トップ湿潤強度ティシュ22およびバック湿潤強度テ
ィシュ26は、それぞれ芯23の回りに包まれてその回りに
エンベロープを形成する湿潤強度ティシュのシートの部
分であり、そしてティシュシートは芯とバックシートと
の間に配置された縦方向延出縁部分をオーバーラップ
し；そして湿潤強度ティシュは、坪量約16〜約23g/m2、
および幅約2.54cmの幅を有する試料当たり約150〜約400
gの機械方向湿潤引張強さ、および幅約2.54cmを有する
試料当たり約75〜約125gの機械交差方向湿潤引張強さを
有する。このようなティシュペーパーは、吸収性芯の繊
維が篩分けられるのを回避するのに優秀であり、そして
超吸収剤粒状物からなる具体例においてはこのような粒
状物が篩分けられるのを回避するのにも優秀である。芯
23は、芯の厚さを通して互いに実質上非結合であるセル
ロース繊維の空気抄造マットであり、そしてマットは、
坪量約310g/m2〜約1240g/m2、およびその股領域におけ
る密度約0.07g/cm3およびその末端領域における密度約
0.03g/cm3を有する。バックシートは、公称厚さ約１ミ
ル（約0.0254mm）を有する艶消仕上ポリエチレンであ
る。接着剤ビーズ46および60用に使用される接着剤は、
ホットメルト接着剤であり；そして接着剤網目49および
52用に使用される接着剤も、好ましくは感圧型のホット
メルト接着剤である。しかしながら、このようなパラメ
ータは、各種の大きさ、容量などの本発明の具体例を与
えるために変化され得るので、本発明をこれらの材料ま
たは重量などに限定しようとはしない。
第１図の接着剤網目49および52を構成するのに好まし
い感圧ホットメルト接着剤は、フアインドレイ・アドヘ
シブズ・インコーポレーテッドの接着剤仕様書No.990-3
74によって同定され、そして接着剤網目49および52を構
成するのに好ましい非感圧ホットメルト接着剤は、ナシ
ョナル・スターチ・カンパニーから入手できるストック
No.34-2857である。
前に使用されような芯スランピングは、簡単には、水
平線を使い捨ておむつの芯の前縁および後縁上に引くこ
とによって測定される。平らなおむつは、水中に２分間
入れられ、半分にＵ字状に折られ、水から取り出され、
そしてＵ字状に折られた形状で腰バンド縁から24〜48時
間つるされる。次いで、元の水平線と芯の後退縁との間
のスランピング距離が、測定される。
前に使用されるような芯ローピングは、使い捨ておむ
つを歩行動作を有する関節ダミー（articulated dumm
y）上に固着することによって測定される。関節ダミー
は、歩行型動作を５分間有するようにされる。次いで、
おむつは、装置から取り外され、そして芯は、幅減少、
引裂および硬スポットについて測定される。芯の幅減少
は、そのローピング度である。
前に使用されるような要求湿潤性は、簡単には、吸収
能力および湿潤速度を包含する用語である。本質上、湿
潤速度は、容積によって測定され、それによって部分能
力を時間の関数として与え、そしてそれによって最後に
全能力を与える。
超吸収剤と前に称されている吸収性粒状物についてこ
こで言及すると、ヒドロゲル物質が、非常に有効であ
る。ここで使用する「ヒドロゲル」とは、水性流体を吸
収しかつ中圧下でそれらを保持できる無機または有機化
合物を意味する。良好な結果のためには、ヒドロゲル
は、水不溶性であるべきである。例は、シリカゲルなど
の無機物質および架橋重合体などの有機化合物である。
架橋は、共有結合、イオン結合、フアンデルワールス結
合、または水素結合によることができる。重合体の例
は、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリビニルアルコール、エチ
レン−無水マレイン酸共重合体、ポリビニルエーテル、
ヒドロキシプロピルセルロース、カルボキシメチルセル
ロース、ポリビニルモルホリノン、ビニルスルホン酸の
重合体および共重合体、ポリアクリレート、ポリアクリ
ルアミド、ポリビニルピリジンなどを包含する。他の好
適なヒドロゲルは、米国特許第3,901,236号明細書に開
示のものである。本発明で使用するのに特に好ましい重
合体は、加水分解アクリロニトリルグラフトデンプン、
アクリル酸グラフトデンプン、ポリアクリレート、およ
びイソブチレン−無水マレイン酸共重合体、またはそれ
らの混合物である。
ヒドロゲルを本発明で利用するという目的で、比較的
乾燥ヒドロゲル粒子が使用されることが、必須である。
また、繊維、粒子も、繊維と粒子の混合物も、このプロ
セス時またはその後にも液状の水または別の溶媒にさら
されるべきではない。湿潤ヒドロゲル粒子が使用される
時には、繊維は、粒子と絡み合いかつ／または結合する
傾向があり、このことは吸収性構造物の望ましくない剛
さを生ずる。追加的に、湿潤ヒドロゲル粒子は、それら
の潜在吸収性が既に低減されているので、明らかにより
小さい吸収能を製品内に有するであろう。
ここで使用する「乾燥」は、「絶対的に水を含まな
い」ことを意味しない。例えば、通常の貯蔵および取扱
条件下においては、ヒドロゲル粒子は、若干の水分をと
り上げる。親水性繊維も、貯蔵時に若干の水分をとり上
げる。更に、繊維およびヒドロゲル粒子の空気輸送用に
湿潤空気を使用してダスト化を回避することが望ましい
ことがある。このようなプロセス条件下においては、ヒ
ドロゲル粒子および繊維は、一層多い水分をとり上げる
であろうが、このようなことは、本発明の実施に過度に
影響しないように限定されるべきである。
追加の別の具体例は、特に「発明の開示」の項目で前
に記載したような多少のエレメントを具備できる。限定
しないが、例えば、このような別の具体例は、トップ湿
潤強度ティシュ22を省略できる。この場合には、トップ
シートは、特許請求の範囲に言及される液体透過性薄層
である。さもなければ、勿論、特許請求の範囲の「液体
透過性薄層」は、内部薄層であり、そして好ましくは前
記のような湿潤強度ティシュである。追加的に、または
或いは、他の別の具体例の各種の薄層は、接着剤ビーズ
46および60の配列よりもむしろ前記のような接着剤の多
数の小滴または接着剤のフイラメントの網目の追加の開
放パターンによって一緒に固着され得る。このような接
着剤の開放パターンは、このような接着剤ビーズによっ
て引き起こされる応力集中および剛さを回避する。
本発明の特定の具体例および別の具体例が図示されか
つ記載されているが、本発明の精神および範囲から逸脱
せずに各種の他の変形および修正を施すことができるこ
とは、当業者に自明であろう。それ故、本発明の範囲内
であるすべてのこのような変形および修正を特許請求の
範囲でカバーすることが、意図される。

部構造を更に明瞭に示す本発明の弾性化使い捨ておむつ

Claims (4)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】吸収性芯、液体透過性薄層、および液体不
    透過性バックシートを具備し、前記吸収性芯は実質上繊
    維間結合を欠いた繊維塊からなり、前記吸収性芯は前記
    薄層と前記バックシートとの間に配置され、そしてホッ
    トメルト接着剤のフィラメントの網状網目で前記薄層と
    の対向関係において接着固着されることを特徴とする使
    い捨て排泄物収納ガーメント。
  2. 【請求項２】前記薄層の外方に面する表面が、前記ガー
    メントの着用者の皮膚と接触させようとする前記ガーメ
    ントの表面であり、そして前記ガーメントのトップシー
    トと称される特許請求の範囲第１項に記載の使い捨て排
    泄物収納ガーメント。
  3. 【請求項３】前記ガーメントが、液体透過性トップシー
    トを更に具備し、そして前記薄層が、前記トップシート
    と前記吸収性芯との間に配置される特許請求の範囲第２
    項に記載の使い捨て排泄物収納ガーメント。
  4. 【請求項４】前記薄層および前記トップシートが、接着
    剤の別の開放パターンで対向関係において一緒に固着さ
    れる特許請求の範囲第３項に記載の使い捨て排泄物収納
    ガーメント。
