Abstract
937,538. Textile drafting and calender rollers. T: M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Feb. 21, 1962 [Feb. 21, 1961], No. 6394/61. Classes 120 (1) and 120 (2). Slivers from a combing machine are divided into two groups A, B to be drafted in separate halves of a draw-box and then be passed, via condensers 21, 28 or 22, 29 to a single pair of calender rolls 23, 24 from which they pass to be coiled, singly or together. Guides 30 on the tables 10 are provided to guide the incoming slivers. The draw-box comprises bottom rollers 11, 12, 13 extending across its full width and two side-by-side sets of top rollers 14, 15. The top rollers are weighted individually at each end by spring means contained in arms 16, each of which is provided with locking means 17. Pneumatic clearers 19, 20 may be provided. The calender roll arrangement comprises a lower-driven roller 24 which drives, by teeth 25, the upper roller 23. The upper roller comprises an inner sleeve 232 which carries on bearings 231 an outer, sliver engaging, sleeve 23 and is pivotally mounted by a pin 233 on a shaft 26 so that equal loads are applied to the two slivers regardless of differences in their thickness. The shaft 26 is pivotally mounted at 261 and extended at 262 so that roller 23 may be raised by the shaft.
