Abstract

1,130,361. Core-spinning. COURTAULDS Ltd. 18 Feb., 1966 [19 Feb., 1965], No. 7219/65. Headings DID and D1W. In a process of core spinning an elastic yarn, a spandex thread is stretched, partially relaxed such that its extension is reduced by at least an eleventh and its tension considerably more due to the hysteresis characteristics of spandex, and then fed while thus partially relaxed to the front rollers of the drafting frame. As described the spandex thread passes from a package driven by a roller at a speed less than the front rollers, around a friction roller driven at a higher speed than the rollers, and then to a grooved roller resting on the top drafting roller. The grooved roller and the roving guide upstream of the drafting rollers may be stationary, or slowly traversed in phase, or traversed out of phase. There may be two rovings composed of a blend of viscose rayon with cotton or polyester fibres.
