Abstract
851,251. Liquid-fuel burners. MOTAN G.m.b.H. May 20, 1958 [May 24, 1957], No. 16087/58. Class 75(1). A liquid fuel burner comprises a tray 1 on to which liquid fuel is fed by a pipe 15 and a removably fitted air chamber 3/3a the lower wall 3a of which is externally concave to provide beneath it a vaporizing space 8<SP>1</SP> and this air chamber is so supported as to leave only a small gap 4 for the entry of the vapour into the combustion spaces, the heated air from the chamber 3/3a being discharged through restricted openings or ports 5 into such gap 4 to mix turbulently with the vapour. The support is provided by an upstanding air admission conduit 2 at the centre of the tray 1. The chamber 3/3a is heated by the flame in the combustion space 8 lying outside the chamber 3/3a and within the apertured cylindrical wall 7 rising from the tray. A conical ring 6 is provided to deflect the flame on to the chamber 3/3a. Further air enters by the series of nozzle holes 9, 91, 911 in the cylindrical wall 7. The top of the air conduit 2 is at the level of the lowest set of nozzle holes 9. A peripheral flange 17 on the chamber piece 3/3a further aids the complete combustion.
