Abstract

1,095,929. Burners. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1965 [Feb. 11, 1965], No. 53008/65. Heading F4T. A burner comprises a porous refractory or ceramic wick 24 fed with liquid or gaseous fuel by a capillary line 30 and with primary air by openings in a plate 22 supporting the wick and forming the end plate of an air conduit 46. The primary air disperses throughout the wick and aids in vaporizing the liquid fuel. The wick is cylindrical and its top surface is covered by a baffle plate 38 having spaced circumferential lugs 44. Burning takes place at the annular surface 36 of the wick. Secondary air is supplied by further openings 52 in the wick support plate 22. The wick is disposed at the bottom of a combustion tube 18 enclosed by a cylindrical member 56 located in the cylindrical core 14 of a thermoelectric generator 12.
