Abstract

846,408. Oil burners. OIL EQUIPMENT & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 9, 1959 [Dec. 9,19.57], No. 38243/57. Class 75(1). In a space heating appliance embodying an oil burner having wicks 16 disposed in circular grooves 13, in the burner base 12, a part spherical surface 19 on the burner is seated on a complementary surface 11 on a supporting base 7 and three angularly spaced screws 21 connect the burner base 12 and the supporting base 7 and serve to adjust the burner base so that the depth of the oil is the same at all points of the grooves 13. The part spherical surface 19 is formed on a nut which is screwed on to the upper end of an oil pipe 18 screwed into a central aperture in the burner base 12. The complementary surface 11 is an annular spherical surface formed around an aperture in the supporting base 7 through which the oil pipe 18 passes freely. Radial passages 15 convey the oil from the centre of the burner base to the grooves 13. Cylindrical walls 26, 27, 28, 29 defining annular combustion chambers rest on shoulders formed on the grooves 13. A perforated cover 30 fits on to the tops of the inner three cylindrical walls 26, 27, 28. An outer casing 1 comprising a frusto-conical upper part and a cylindrical lower part fits. on to a flange on the base 7.
