Abstract
1421723 Gas burners PARKINSON COWAN APPLIANCES Ltd 13 Feb 1973 [22 Dec 1971] 59852/71 Heading F4T A gas burner has a utensil support 20 thereabove and comprises an inner component 10 surrounded by an annular outer component 11 having a flange portion 15 and a second portion 14 extending generally parallel to a vertical central axis of the burner, flange 15 forming part of a generally toroidal chamber 16 with a fuel inlet port 17, and an annular gap 18 through which the flame extends being formed between parts 10 and 14, said gap 18 being interrupted at intervals around its circumference by projections 19 which extend across the gap 18 and are aligned with utensil-supporting ribs of support 20 to prevent direct flame impingement on said ribs which are radial to the burner axis. Projections 19 may be formed integrally with part 14 or with part 10 or on both of parts 10 and 14, or by providing a distance ring with integral projections. An aperture through a base plate 12 allows an igniter, temperature sensors or flame failure devices to extend into the interior of the hollow part 10 and also enables combustion air to be admitted to a pilot burner or the main burner.
