[Class 75 (i)] A liquid-fuel burner comprises a combustion chamber 11 and an air supply casing 10 preferably circular in cross - section, a fuel distributer 20 arranged at the bottom of the combustion chamber, a wick member 25 of heat - resisting and heat -conducting material resting in the fuel distributer, and a partition 30 situated between the fuel distributer and the casing 10 dividing the air entering through the apertures 15 into two currents, one sweeping along the inner surface of the combustion chamber and the other sweeping along the inner and outer surfaces of the wick member. The fuel distributer consists of an annular trough connected by grooved radial members to a central pipe 23 which is secured to the fuel supply pipe 16. The wick member consists of a ring furnished with radial walls and may be of incised sheet metal such as rust-resisting iron or steel or of wire gauze. Additional air is supplied to the combustion chamber 11 through holes 33 which may be fitted with nozzles 34. The holes and nozzles may be inclined and ribs 43 may be provided in the casing 10 to cause the air currents to rotate. Ignition is effected by burning fuel on wire gauze 36 in a tubular member 35 opening into the combustion chamber 11. An asbestos or other fireproof ring 42 of less diameter than the flue 13 may be provided between the flue and the combustion chamber to promote the intimate mixture of the combustion gases and air.
