Abstract
519,191. Liquid-fuel burners. CONSIDINE. S. J. P. Sept. 16, 1938, No. 27058. [Class 75 (i)] In an oil burner of the kind comprising a central pot - like vaporizing chamber 4 connected by radial ducts. 3, 5 to one or more annular channels 1, 2 supporting perforated metal tubes 14 enclosing a combustion space, the floor portions of the radial ducts and wick temperature' regulator 6 comprising a bimetallic channels form level extensions of the floor of the vaporizing chamber and radial ridges 12 are provided above the floors of the wick channels to raise the wicks sufficiently to allow the passage of oil beneath them. A loose metal cover 16 which may support a conical flame spreader rests on the tops of the tubes 14. The oil is supplied to the vaporizing chamber from a constant level reservoir in which is supported an inverted fuel bottle. Water may be heated by passage through a pipe coiled around the tubes 14.
