830,748. Draught excluders; mouldings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. July 9, 1957 [July 20, 1956], No. 22618/56. Classes 20(3) and 20(4) [Also in Group XXV] A fastener for engaging over an edge of a support comprises a U-shaped member made of sheet metal one of the arms 1 of the U being provided with a plurality of resilient prongs directed inwardly and inclined to the base of the U and including a prong which is longer and has a free end spaced from the opposite arm of the U less distance than other prong. As shown the fastener has a single short prong 8 and two other prongs 6, 7, the prongs are cut out from the arm 1 and can flex in relation to it. When the fastener is assembled with a relatively thin support the prongs 6, 7 engage the adjacent face of the support to secure the fastener; with a thicker support however the angle between the prongs and the adjacent surface of the support becomes such that efficient frictional gripping engagement is not obtained and in this case the prong 8 engages the support. The fastener is intended for securing a draught excluder strip to the edge of a support or for securing trim fabric or the like to a support. When used for securing draught excluder strip the web of the strip is folded into a U-shape and positioned inside a channel shaped member 13, a plurality of fasteners are then inserted into the portion of the web disposed within the channel member 13. Projecting lugs 9 are provided on the fastener to dig into the web.
