817,248. Stop-motion for textile machines. GRIFOLL, A. P., CASAS, J. S., and SALVANS, R. V. Nov. 7, 1957 [Nov. 10, 1956], No. 34794/57. Class 120(2) A stop - motion for rovings in a spinning- f r a m e comprises a pivotally - mounted member with bearing surfaces for rovings on its opposite sides; during normal working the member is kept in balance, but if a roving breaks it pivots to cause the other roving to be severed. The member may be a prism 5 pivoted eccentrically at 7 in a housing 3 and having surfaces 13 on which the rovings bear and an apex which cooperates with the housing to grip the roving for it to be severed either by the cutting action of the parts or by the pull on the ring. The prism is held on its pivot by a spring-loaded catch which limits its oscillation. The housing is open at the front to facilitate threading. In another form, the device comprises a fixed block and a pivoted outer member, the rovings passing between them to press on the outer member.
