Abstract

812,636. Yarn twist arrester. ATELIERS ROANNAIS DE CONSTRUCTIONS TEXTILES. May 2, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 13559/56. Class 120(2) A yarn twist arrester comprises an idler pulley of polygonal crosssection around or partly around which a bundle of filaments passes, the edges of the pulley contacting the bundle to arrest twist runback without introducing any appreciable supplementary tension in the bundle. In a downtwister, Fig. 2 the filament bundle 13 passes over an idler pulley 6 of triangular section and then through a guide 12 to a ring and traveller take-up. In the embodiment of Fig. 4, an idler 6 rotates with the flyer 4 of an uptwister, and twist is inserted between the idler 6 and an idler 6a rotating about its own axis which is fixed, the idler. 6a acting to feed the twisted bundle but to prevent the twist from running without control.
