Abstract
783.001. Covering cores by winding MINISTER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE OF H.M. CANADIAN GOVERNMENT. March 11. 1955 [Jan. 14, 19551. No. 7283/55. Class 109 [Also in Group IX] In the manufacture of a composite yarn, a "twist-free roving" of staple fibres e.g. cotton, wool, is applied to a filamentary yarn e.g. nylon or longer staple yarn e.g. floc, by intertwisting, during which process the yarn may be under a higher tension than the roving. As shown in Fig. 1, a filament yarn 10, taken from a cone 11 and fed into the front rolls 12 of a spinning frame, and a roving 13, taken from a bobbin 14 annd fed into back rolls 15 of the frame, are fed together through a guide 16 and traveller 17 to a bobbin 18 so that the drawn roving is wrapped around (and may cover completely), the yarn 10 between the traveller 17 and the rolls 12, twist being applied only to the varn.
