Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In crimping thermoplastic yarns by drawing the yarn from supply packages, twisting a plurality of yarns together, heating the yarns in twisted form to set the deformations therein produced by the twisting, separating the yarns and winding them on take-up packages, the twist is initially applied by passing the yarn through paths in a false-twist tube and rotating the tube a given number of revolutions, the tube then being locked against rotation during the subsequent proceedings. The twist-tube may comprise one or more cross-members or holes for effecting the yarn separation.
