Abstract
766,284. Overhead travelling hoists. MERK, H. Oct. 20, 1954 [Nov. 7, 1953], No. 30241/54. Class 78 (4). The telescopic legs 4, 5 supporting a track 1 for a portable hoist carriage have the inner telescoping members 5 at the lower ends and winches 12 for drawing the pairs of legs together in erection are mounted at the lower ends of the portions 5 instead of, as commonly hitherto, at the upper ends. The winches 12 are operated by ratchet handles 13 and the cables 14 from them pass over pulleys 15 on the legs 5. Telescopic bracing members 16, 17 between the legs may be locked by pins 19 while similar pins 9 serve to lock the legs 4, 5. Braces 6 for the upper portions 4 of the legs are carried by the same pivot pins 3. The winches 12, 12<1> may also serve to traverse a crab along the track 1.
