Abstract

752,101. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. Dec. 21, 1954 [Jan. 12, 1954], No. 833/54. Class 103 (1). In a disc and wheel hub assembly for a disc brake, the brake disc 3 is slidably received on and secured to an outwardly radially extending flange 2 of the wheel hub 1 by means of a series of bolts 7, formed with square-sectioned shank portions 9, which engage a plurality of rectangular notches 4 formed in the outer periphery of the flange 2. The notches 4 are radially aligned with similar notches 5 formed on the inner periphery of the disc, whereby a square aperture 6 is formed by the association of each pair of notches. Axial movement of the disc relative to the flange is prevented by the heads 8 and nuts 11 of the bolts 7 which are seated in shallow recesses 10. Holes 12 formed in the disc 3 adjacent to its inner periphery lighten the disc and assist in the prevention of the transmission of heat by conduction from the disc to the hub and bearings.
