Abstract

1,133,110. Disc brakes. GIRLING Ltd. 26 May, 1967 [30 June, 1966], No. 29549/66. Heading F2E. A disc brake construction comprises an annular brake disc 1 which is secured at its inner margin to a mounting ring 4, the portion of which adjacent the brake disc 1 having a plurality of open-ended slots 8 defining between them resiliently flexible spokes or fingers to which the disc is secured. In the construction shown the mounting ring is provided with a flange 3 for securing purposes, the securing means 7 comprising "Huck" fasteners or nuts and bolts. The securing means project through oversized holes in the flange 3 and disc 1 and are permanently tensioned such that torque is transmitted from the disc to the ring 4 by frictional engagement therebetween. The ring 4 is connected to an axle 6 of a vehicle, particularly a rail vehicle.
