A separable link for connecting straps 52, shroud lines, &c., comprises a U-shaped member 12, Fig. 2, including a pair of leg portions 14 each provided with a groove 22 extending at least partially therearound, a yoke member 26 having a pair of spaced apertures 28 into which the leg portions are adapted to extend and a transverse slot 36 communicating with the apertures 28, a locking plate 40 slidable in the slot 36 and having openings 42, the bordering edges of which engage in the grooves 22 to prevent removal of the yoke from the U-shaped member and means for retaining the plate 40 in engagement with the grooves 22. Fig. 2 shows a form of link in which the ends of the U-shaped members 12 are reduced at 16 and shouldered at 18 so that when inserted in apertures 28 the grooves 22 are aligned with the slot 36. The side wall 38 of yoke 26 is flexible and acts to lock the retaining screw 46 which screws into the yoke and through an aperture 44 in plate 40. Fig. 7 shows a form of link in which the apertures 122 are of constructed diameter to engage the ends 116 of the U-shaped member 112 to align grooves 118 with the slot 134. The locking plate 140 has elongated apertures 142 which engage or disengage the grooves 118 when the plate is slidably mounted in slot 134. Retaining screw 156 has a frusto-conical portion 162 between diameters corresponding to those of the elongated aperture 150 in locking plate 140 so that when fully inserted the screw prohibits sliding movement of the plate from its locking position.
