Abstract

1,252,789. Fastenings. AMERICAN ALUMINUM CO. 24 Oct., 1969 [24 Oct., 1968], No. 52212/69. Heading E2A. [Also in Division F2] A strap-tensioning buckle comprises a sheet metal strap-attachment plate A and a straptensioning lever B pivoted to it and having a strap-guiding bar 8 and a strap-tensioning bar 7, all folded from sheet metal. The two elements have folded-up side walls mutually pivoted on rivets 4. Folded down end 7a has ears 13 held by dents 20 in the side-walls 5, for strength. Alternatively bevelled edges on the end 7a serve a similar purpose. One end of the strap is secured through hole 2 in the plate A as shown in Fig. 9, and the other end C is threaded round guide bar 8 and under tensioning bar 7, Fig. 9, so that when the lever is pulled to the position shown in Fig. 10, an over-centre tensioning force is produced and projections 20 engage sockets 21 in the plate A to hold the lever in its tensioned position.
