Abstract
732,636. Switches, partly electromagnetic. EL-RE-MA SOC. ANON. PER LO SFRUTTAMENTO DI BREVETTI. Sept. 28, 1953 [Dec. 6, 1952], No. 26579/53. Class 38 (5). A switch, Figs. 1, 2, comprises nine fixed magnetic contacts 1 partly embedded in an insulating body 3 and surrounded by a common magnet coil 12. The three movable contacts 2 are magnetic and mounted for sliding movement against the action of springs 8 in an insulating body 4, the body 4 being mounted on rods 5 slidable in the body 3. In use, the rods 5 are moved to position the contacts 2 opposite the desired contacts 1 and the coil 12 is then energized to move the contacts 2 against the contacts 1. In a modification, the springs 8 are omitted so that the contacts 1, 2 are in engagement when the rods 5 are moved, subsequent energization of the coil 12 producing increased contact pressure. In a further modification the contacts 2 are fixed in the body 4 and contacts 1 movable in the body 3, and gravity may be used to hold the contacts 1 away from contacts 2. In the construction, Figs. 3, 4, a number of contact plates 14, which may be magnetic, are mounted on an insulating sector 15 movable about an axis 16 to position the contacts between desired pairs of opposed U-shaped contacts 17. The contacts 17 are magnetic and mounted on leaf-springs 18 so that when a coil 20 is energized the contacts 17 of each pair move towards each other to engage the corresponding contact 14.
