Abstract
695,296. Electromagnetic switches. DEWHURST & PARTNER, Ltd., JACKSON, J. A., and DEWHURST, M. Oct. 8, 1951 [Oct. 12, 1950], No. 24962/50. Class 38 (v) To prevent bounce of contacts, the movable contact 10 of a contactor switch is pivoted at 16 to an insulating carrier 11 which is itself pivoted to the armature 13 at 12 and can move relative to the armature to an extent determined by a spindle 14 on the carrier moving in a hole 13a in the armature. The carrier 11 consists of two insulating plates on opposite sides of the armature and is biased towards the armature by two springs 19. The pivoting contact 10 is biased by a spring 17. A magnetic blow out coil 22 is arranged between the fixed contact 18 and an auxiliary fixed contact 21 so as to be energized when the arc jumps on to the contact 21. In opening, the contact 10 comes to rest on an auxiliary fixed contact 27 which takes the other end of the arc. Discs 28 of ferrous material intensify the magnetic field.
