727,545. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. MIAG MUHLENBAU UND INDUSTRIE GES. July 10, 1953 [July 18, 1952], No. 19217/53. Class 106 (5). A device for delivering measured quantities of liquid comprises a free piston 2 and a valve 4 through which the whole of the liquid supplied to and delivered by the piston passes. Liquid passes through an inlet 14, a longitudinal groove 13, an annular groove 11, and a channel 16 to charge the space above the piston 2 which simultaneously expels the liquid beneath it through a channel 17 and a port 15. This process is reversed when an electromagnet 5 is switched off to allow the valve 4 to be displaced by a spring or gravity to a position in which liquid may enter the space beneath the piston through an annular groove 12 and the channel 17, while the liquid above the piston is expelled through the channel 16 and ports 9 and 10. A rod 6 provided with a scale 8 and a screw adjustment 18 enables the stroke of the piston to be adjusted. The electromagnet may be operated by a balance, for example, for corn which is to have its moisture content raised.
