710,528. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. HEISE, C., [trading as ALFELDER EISENWERKE C. HEISE, VORM. WESSELMANN & CIE., O.]. Jan. 2, 1952 [Jan. 8, 1951], No. 183/52. Class 106(5) [Also in Group XXVIII] A measured quantity of molten tar for road-making is supplied to a spray-head 31 from a chamber 1 fitted with tar control cocks 9 and 10 and a compressed-air cock 12. The cocks are of the three-way type and are interconnected for operation by a handle 16 so that, in one position of the handle, tar from an inlet pipe 14 connected to a pump circulates through the chamber and out by the cock 10 to a pipe 24 leading to a reservoir and, in the other position of the handle, the cock 12 is opened to allow compressed air to discharge the contents of the chamber through the valve 9 to the spray head and the cocks 9 and 10 are adjusted so that the tar from the inlet pipe 14 by-passes the chamber, to return to the reservoir through a pipe 13, the cock 10 and the pipe 24. The capacity of the chamber is adjustable by a piston 3 on a screwed spindle 2 and is indicated by a pointer 6 and scale 5.
