Abstract
565,726. Controlling flow of liquids. MOORE, R. P. March 2,1943, No. 3396. [Class 135] [Also in Group II] Apparatus for controlling liquid flow comprises a V-shaped pocket, the limbs of which are separated by a sharp-edged partition 6 Fig. 1, co-operating with mercury or other liquid 7. A supply tank is connected through a tube 11, a glass tube 14 serves as an air vent and supply head indicator, and the bottom of the partition may be arch-shaped. The partition may be vertically adjusted, or the mercury level adjusted by a screw 8. When used for proportionally dosing one liquid with another, the device is fed from a constant-level tank 13, Fig. 3, and the supply head adjusted by means of a float 20. In another form, the device is fixedly mounted, and the mercury level raised to stop the flow of liquid by a plunger which is float-controlled through the agency of a solenoid.
