778,027. Glass pressing. OWENSILLINOIS GLASS CO. Sept. 22, 1955 [Dec. 23. 1954], No. 27061/55. Class 56 A press-and-blow machine includes a press-mould 11 and blow mould 17 and a plunger 26 with neck moulds 16a. Admission of fluid pressure to the cylinder 20 of the plunger 26 is controlled by a camoperated main distributer 40 controlling supplies to pipes 90 and 51. Pipe 51 feeds another distributer M by way of pipe 52 and, as shown in Fig. 2. this distributer has two pistons 63, 64 of equal diameter, and a larger piston 66, on a common piston rod, a restricted passage 62 to beneath the piston 66, an exhaust port 67, a pipe 75 to the cylinder 28, and an adjustable exhaust 73. These arrangements allow the quick application of full pressure to the cylinder 28 followed by'a reduction of pressure therein, passage 62 allowing the build up of pressure beneath piston 66 to raise it against spring 61 and so raising piston 64 to close passage 55 and vent 75 through 67 (the lower end of piston 64 by now having uncovered the aperture at the base of chamber 56).
