Class 64(3) In a heat-exchanger comprising plates 1 spaced apart by and bonded to intervening spacers 2, the spacers have, in cross-section, at least one diagonal member which braces or supports the assembly against shear forces applied thereto, e.g. by fluid pressure differences. The cross-sectional shape of the spacers 2 may be in the form of a Z or an X. In the arrangement shown secondary surfaces 9 are provided.
