Abstract
711,334. Wet grinding; ball mills. SMIDTH & CO. AKTIESELSKAB, F. L. Nov. 11, 1952 [Dec. 7, 1951], No. 28407/52. Class 59 In a wet grinding mill comprising successive compartments I to IV, to the first, I, of which dry material and liquid are supplied from a hopper 4 and pipe 5 respectively, and from the last, IV, of which the final slurry is discharged through a pipe 7, further liquid is supplied through a pipe 10, gland 11, and pipe 12 to the last compartment or compartments to the amount necessary to form a final slurry which will flow, but not in substantial excess of that amount. A valve 18 in the pipe 10 is controlled electrically by means of a viscometer 13 the rotor of which dips into a chamber 14 through which a fraction of the final slurry passes. A valve 6 in the pipe 7 is controlled by means of a microphone 19 which detects the noise of grinding in compartment I. In another form, Fig. 1 (not shown), the automatic means for controlling the valve 6 are omitted.
