[Class 59] For grinding sulphur and other solids in a neutral atmosphere, a fine grinding mill M is operated in a closed cycle so that a neutral atmosphere filling the mill is withdrawn through the mill outlet P2 and circulated back to the grinding chamber and the ground solid is removed, at C, from the neutral gas thus circulated while samples of the circulating gas are continuously tested in a gas analyzer E arranged automatically to stop the mill if the atmosphere within the latter reaches a predetermined undesirable condition.
