Abstract

597,740. Wet separating. DOMANIALE MIJN-MAATSCBAPPIJ, N. V., and TROMP, K. F. Sept. 6,1945, No. 23019. [Class 82 (ii)] A rotary drum for screening slurry water comprises in combination a spray pipe 7 situated above the drum and a conduit 8 for feeding the slurry water on to the inner face of the drum through the greater part thereof, said drum having an end wall 1 with a circular opening therein on the feed side only and being open to its full diameter on the discharge side 2, and has a gauze 4 fixed to the inside of longitudinal flat bars 3 by which it is supported thus ensuring an uninterrupted smooth screening surface extending throughout the entire circumference of the drum. The spray 7 serves to free the gauze 4 of intersticial deposits, and a further spray 15 may be interiorly spaced as shown if desired. The feed is fed to the sides of the drum interior via a tray or trays 10 and may decrease towards the discharge end, and the fines drain through the gauze into the trough 13. The drum may slope downwards towards the discharge end or may be conical, and may also be arranged in conjunction with a rotary bucket delivery wheel 21 and drum 25 of known type as shown in Fig. 3.
