Abstract

[Class 117] [Also in Group XIII] To winnow grain elevated by an air current from a fan f to a hopper b in a grain drying apparatus, the elevating duct j is increased gradually in width to reduce the velocity of the air current and is fitted. with diverging vanes which spread the air current evenly across the duct, which has a curved end h<SP>2</SP> delivering across the hopper. In the apparatus shown, the fan has two outlet conduits, one conduit g delivering wet grain to a hopper b above the drying passages, and the other conduit h delivering dry grain to a hopper above a sacking bin, as described in Specification 523,391, [Group XIII]. The light material is carried by the air current across the hopper b to an outlet b<SP>1</SP> above a sloping floor b<SP>2</SP> and surrounded by a framing supporting sacking and with a button outlet l<SP>2</SP> for solids.
