Abstract

371,793. Ball and like mills. MALLICKH, G. A. H., 20, Lendersdorferweg, Duren, Rhineland, Germany. March 11, 1932, No. 7318. [Class 59.] A mill for grinding waste paper &c. comprises a stationary cylindrical casing a, a vaned body b secured to a rotary shaft c within the casing and loose rods g arranged in each gap f between contiguous vanes so that the rods will roll alternately on the casing wall and on the surfaces of the vanes, on the body being rotated, the vanes being shaped so that each pair of contiguous vanes form together a uniformly curved concave. The vanes b are spaced from the casing wall for the passage of material and lugs o on the vanes retain the rods g in the gaps. The material is fed through a hopper h and is discharged through an outlet i controlled by a sliding plate k and a pipe p in the outlet may spray water into the casing. The bottom of the casing may be perforated at l to permit impurities to pass into a chamber m closed normally by an outlet n.
