Abstract

695,546. Air-cooled engines. ASSOCIATED MOTOR CYCLES, Ltd., and HATCH, H. J. July 19, 1951 [April 19, 1950]. No. 26809/49 Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi). A cylinder head, e.g. for a motor-cycle engine is provided with an inlet valve 4 and two exhaust valves 2 which are so inclined that their axes A intersect at a point C beyond the axis B of the cylinder bore. A camshaft may be located above and to one side of the inlet valve to operate push-rods 7 and rockers 8 for the exhaust valves; alternatively, cams may be disposed above the exhaust valves which are then operated by tappets and levers. One half of the cylinder head may be part-spherical in form, and the inlet valve may be larger than the exhaust valves.
