687,670. Manure distributers; croploaders. OPPERMAN, S. E., and GANWICK ESTATES, Ltd. May 1, 1951 [May 2, 1950; Jan. 9, 1951], Nos. 10781/50 and 610/51. Classes 6(i) and 6(iii) A machine which may be used as either a manure distributer, Fig. 6, or a croploader, Fig. 1, comprises a wheeled trailer 8 having an endless slat-conveyer 17 which may be driven in either 'direction from the power take-off of the tractor. When used as a crop-loader, the trailer has a slatted body 10 and has coupled to its rear end a conventional pick-up elevator 11 which deposits the crop on to the forwardlymoving apron 17 so that it builds up against the front end of the body 10. For discharge, the apron drive is reversed. The elevator 11 is coupled to the trailer by a releasable catch 13 operable by a lever 16 accessible to the tractor driver. When used as a manure-spreader a low truckbody 30 is substituted for the body 10, the body having a beater shaft 32 at its rear end carrying beaters 33, and having also a cross-shaft 34 carrying cutter discs 35. The drive from the power take-off, Fig. 2, is taken to a gear-box 19 on the trailer and thence through clutches 21 to either of two half-shafts 20 which drive the slat conveyer in opposite directions through chains 23 engaging sprockets 24 on the driving shaft 25 of the conveyer.
