[Class 6 (i)] A manure distributer, of the type wherein an endless apron 13 feeds material rearwardly to a rotary beater 17, is characterized by the provision of an auxiliary beater 29 located below the delivery edge of the apron to scatter manure which escapes the action of the main beater 17. The machine comprises a wheeled chassis having a solid bed 8 over which passes an apron consisting of a pair of chains 13 interconnected at intervals by bars. The apron feeds material rearwardly to a rotary beater 17 having tines 19 which shred the material and pass it to a rotary disintegrater 38. The auxiliary beater 29 is mounted on brackets 23 which are adjustable on a vertical frame member 20 to vary the tension of a chain 34 entrained around the driving sprockets 28, 32 of the auxiliary and main beaters and also around the sprocket 33 of an upper beater 22, the three sprockets being arranged in triangular formation. The disintegrater is driven from the main beater shaft 18 which is in turn driven from the land wheels by a chain drive 36 incorporating the mechanism described in Specification 588,514.
