Abstract
682,765. Scaffolding. STEW ARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd. Dec. 9, 1949 [Dec. 9, 1948], No. 31840/48. Class 20(ii) A scaffolding component is in the form of a prefabricated putlog incorporating at or adjacent its ends clamping means for positively gripping the ledges and for coupling upper and lower uprights of a scaffolding. The putlog may comprise a metal tube 1, Fig. 1, with perpendicular tubes 2 welded at its ends the tubes 2 being slit at the ends and provided with lugs 12 for the reception of screws to clamp uprights in the sockets 3, 4. Side-plates 7 welded to the tubes 1, 2 at each end of the putlog are connected by a cross-piece through which works a screw 10 for clamping ledge tubes in the recesses in the sideplates 7. The tubes 2, instead of having enlarged socket ends may be provided with with an internal peripheral rib 15, Fig. 3, to limit the inward movement of the uprights.
