675,909. Coke ovens. KOPPERS GES., H. July 28, 1950, No. 18912/50. Class 51 (ii). In a twin flue underjet coke oven of the combined type wherein two end-to-end regenerators disposed beneath each oven chamber are connected with the heating flues of two heating walls positioned thereabove partly directly and partly through an extension flue leading from the top of one regenerator longitudinally across the top of the other regenerator, each twin flue having also a bottom connection for the re-circulation of waste gases, ducts 19 for the rich gas are provided extending from the basement within the dividing walls separating side-by-side regenerators, and ducts 14, 15 link one limb 10 of each twin heating flue directly with lean gas and air regenerators 4 disposed therebelow, whereas ducts 17, 18 link the other limb 9 indirectly with the corresponding end-toend regenerators 4 through the extension flues 16. Each rich gas port 24 is disposed between the lean gas port 25 and the bottom connecting port 12 joining the limbs 9 and 10 of each twin flue and the lean gas ports 25 are widened downwardly as at 26.
