Abstract
669,747. Waterproofing. TAUSZIG, E. Jan. 24, 1949 [March 11, 1948], No. 1877/49. Class 140. A waterproofing bath for textile fibres and paper, is prepared by adding a mixture of an aqueous buffer solution having a pH value of from 7.4 to 7.5 and made by adding 10 degrees BaumÚ acetic acid solution to 20 degrees BaumÚ ammonia solution, to an aqueous solution of aluminium chloride, containing traces of iron, but containing no salt of other metals, in such proportions that the final waterproofing bath has a pH value of from 5 to 5.6 and a specific gravity of from 9.5 to 10 degrees BaumÚ. The materials to be treated are allowed to remain in the waterproofing bath for up to 20 minutes at temperatures below 40‹ C., and then dried in any suitable manner. French Specification 924,844 is referred to.
