Abstract
664,552. Automatic small arms. ZBROJOVKA BRNO, NARODNI PODNIK. April 22, 1949. [April 23, 1.948] No. 10761/49. Class 119. In gas-operated guns, the gas cylinder 4, which is attached bayonet fashion to the barrel 1 or barrel sleeve 3 in known manner for removal by rotation and then withdrawal rearwardly, is, according to the invention, retained in operative position by the insertion of the forestock 18 the removal of which provides access to the gun parts. As shown, a collar on the gas cylinder is provided with spaced flutings 12 corresponding in number with the various sized cylinder gas openings 10, and the forestock 18 has a lump 17, Fig. 2, engaging the appropriate fluting for fastening the gas cylinder in the operative position in which position one of the projections 11 between the flutings 12 engages behind a lump 14 on the barrel and the appropriate opening 10 then registers with the gas tapping 5 in the barrel. The barrel sleeve 3 is locked in position by a nut 2 having flutings, one of which is engaged by the front end of the gas cylinder to lock the nut. After withdrawal of the fore end 18, the gas cylinder can be rotated and moved rearwardly for withdrawal or to permit of further rotation for adjusting the gas inlets.
