Abstract
646,419. Gun-sight protector. LLOYD, D. L. Oct. 21, 1948, Nos. 27326/48 and 9454/49. [Class 119] The telescopic sight 11 of a rifle or sporting gun is protected by a tubular sleeve 21 one end 36 of which extends continuously around the eyepiece 13, the sleeve at points spaced from the end 36 being secured, as at 31, to the gun 33 and being slotted to pass over attachments 16, 18, for securing the sight to the gun. The arrangement of the parts is such that the user's eye can readily be brought in close proximity with the eye-piece of the sight. The protecting sleeve shown is in three parts of which the centre part 22 is tubular and is socketted at 25 to receive the reduced rear end 26 of the front part 23. The latter has a slot 27 for passing over the attachment 18 and is formed with a clip 29 for attachment at 31 to the gun barrel. The rear part 24 of the sleeve is of tubular form at 35, its front part being slotted at 39a and being of reduced diameter at 39 whereby it can frictionally engage the inner walls of the parts 22 and 23.
